Is it safe to travel Guatemala and Belize?


areas you're traveling relatively safe. of 7 countries in central america, belize #3 homicides, guatemala #4. in world, they're lower on list. attributed dangers involved narco-trafficking. tourists victims of petty theft or robbery, if ever caught in crossfire of violence. violence here gangsters killing gangsters or political / drug related killings. that's makes number high. i'm expat , i've lived here years in guatemala city. walk everywhere every day , i've never once been robbed, threatened, or felt scared. tourist, risk danger low.

currently, safe travel either country? i'm california, , i'm planning excursion temples of tikal , caye caulker, belize.
