there on 400,000 free genealogy sites,

1) don't pay google come in first place. have pay attention words, "ads" in small type, , ignore results.

2) of free ones have ads, ask name, take pay site. have pay attention form.

in either case, if don't pay attention, you'll end on 1 of sites search free, seeing results costs money. dishonest, in opinion, didn't ask opinion.

3) rare exception, free sites give data let research tree. won't show tree. exception when someone, great-aunt, has done work , uploaded it.

no web site going tell how great grandparents decorated christmas tree ornaments cut tin foil during depression, how great uncle elmer wooed wife banjo, or how uncle john paid way through college in 1960's smuggling herbs. talk living relatives before late.

won't find living people on genealogy sites. you'll have people living in 1930 or talking relatives, looking obituaries , forth.

finally, not read on internet true. have cautious , @ people's sources. cross-check , verify.
