not on shifting sand.

strong sea.

neighbors.
not spoke much.
met in silences.
respectful, keeping our distance,
looking our thoughts across fence of sand.
always, fence of sand our barrier,
always, sand between.
, 1 day,
-and still don’t know how happened
sea came.
without warning.
without welcome,
not sudden , swift, shifting across sand
wine,
less flow of water flow of blood.
slow, coming.
slow, flowing open wound.
, thought of flight , thought of drowning , thought of death.
, while thought sea crept higher, till reached door.
, knew, then, there neither flight, nor death, nor drowning.
when sea comes calling, stop being neighbors,
well-acquainted, friendly-at-a-distance neighbors,
, give house coral castle,
