What are some good techniques for memorizing lines?
depends on how learn. ideas:
* hand write lines out helps people memorize. or if you're more keyboarding, type out lines in large print , read you're typing.
* recording lines , listening them helps. can record lines, or record other person's line , leave gap lines can practice inserting them.
* go line line. take note card or , cover lines you're not learning , glace down @ line , try take in (like if you're doing cold reading) , line out loud stuffed animal across room (or - if it's wall).
professional stage actress 15 years, effective way myself textual examination of words (something learned in acting class). pick out important words in sentence , examine how words relate , patterns there are. have same verb tense (ending in 'ed' or 'ing')? rhyme? start same letter? short syllable words, long syllable? how can link 1 important word next? there pattern how words put - long sentence followed 2 short sentences or whatever. (if type out lines, can make important words in different color.)
move words , sentences looking patterns - picture these words creating. visual picture or emotional picture. , keep in mind goal of character when saying these words. i'm not memorizing bunch of words - creating picture , keep picture in head me remember lines.
i'm not sure how helpful description is, because it's proces sort of in head , haven't articulated involved, hope helps.
