When knitting stripes in garter stitch, which side should face you when working in new color? (WS or RS)?

depends on want. garter stitch totally reversible, can choose side "right" (or public) or "wrong" (or private). if use long-tail cast on, choose face of second row "right" side because of way looks cast-on, may other side better. totally you.

principle works stripes of multiple rows well. make color changes @ same side of work, "right" side facing you change color.

if want add color interest stripes, 1 way change colors on opposite ends of work. example, if want color changes show row "dashes" of half 1 color , half other, knit odd number of rows, change colors. i've made lot of scarves knit side-to-side in garter stitch stripes change colors dashes scarves reversible. dashes become design feature.
