Was my friend in the wrong for doing this this previous Halloween?

halloween of 2012, did not go trick-or-treating usual, hurricane sandy had postponed date, , honestly, once going out candy in november, wasn't in mood. anyway, mom's friend handing out candy little kids, when 2 teenagers came along, costume , all, donning cheesy pumpkin basket on wrist. mom's friend said "sorry, i'm out", though had 2 full baskets of candy in hand, ready give out, shut (not slammed) door in faces, again, not rudely slamming it. agree, should have handled better, young men in high school, maybe 16 or 17. how know innocently going out night of fun, they're not five, might up, tping house or stealing little kids' candy, highly doubt teenagers out without little kids accompanying them looking candy. :/
know it's little late ask, curious never felt want ask. :)
