How effective are control canards?


how effective? sort of measure looking for? shifting direction of twenty tons of thrust more effective canards, costs lot more in performance. advantage of canard allows pitch controlling surface provide lift, center of gravity ahead of center of lift of main wing , tail counterbalances pushing down. need there nose down pitch when flying surfaces stalled or you'd dead in hurry first time stalled thing. having surfaces provide positive lift makes aircraft more economical.
