Why are the majority of highly religious people from poor or unfortunate backgrounds?


reading through comments, postings, articles, etc. have noticed large amount of religious people come difficult backgrounds. addiction, poverty, abuse, jail, war, etc. not individuals themselves, family or ancestors have been through lots of adversity. internet , open minds appears more people becoming smarter. researching things , finding out answers instead of accepting whatever older people have told them.
