won't argue view whether cost worth strictly matter of opinion.
taxi cost $52 (flat fare) + tolls , tip.
can take shuttle bus ($16) 42nd st-park avenue (across grand central), port authority bus terminal (41st st & 8th av) , penn station (33rd st & 7th av)

airtrain + subway method cost $8.50 (airtrain fee $5.00, subway fare $2.50 + $1.00 surcharge purchase of new metrocard).
if decide on subway:
jfk take airtrain jamaica station (station d)
walk airtrain turnstiles. purchase "airtrain + subway" metrocard $8.50 metrocard vending machine.

once buy metrocard:
- insert slot in turnstile. $5.00 (the airtrain fee) deducted , card returned. gate open , can proceed.
- walk ahead long island railroad area on left.
- enter lirr area , walk elevators @ far side
- take elevator down level (subway)
- exit elevator , go left subway turnstiles
- slide metrocard (with yellow side toward , magnetic strip @ bottom) in slot @ top of turnstile. $2.50 deducted , turnstile arm unlock can enter.
- once past turnstiles, take escalator or elevator down 1 level 'e' train (sutphin blvd-jfk station)
- take manhattan-bound (world trade center) e manhattan.
didn't mention final destination can transfer free other trains in queens or in manhattan. putting link subway map convenience (you can paper copy @ booth in subway station).

i know more expensive how more. people tell me first view of skyline taxi 1 of moments stays forever getting subway stop me seeing it. worth it?
