1983 Toyota 4x4 for $2500 with 221352.4 miles on it worth it?

don't agree others have posted far. toyota trucks stout, reliable , highly-desirable. mileage on odometer nothing out of ordinary. many newer trucks have more miles on them 220k.

suitability of asking price depends largely on condition. well-maintained, rust-free example worth double that. if has rust and/or needs work, may able bargain price down little.

rust single biggest problem spot for. along frame, inside fenderwells, , on cab floor. beds prone rust, california beds didn't have rust-prevention , paint quality of factory in japan. cabs in better shape beds. beds can repaired/replaced though. frame can replaced. depends how effort want put in. many people prefer these trucks newer ones , willing perform frame-off restorations and/or rebuilds on them , keep them long, long time.

how long lasts depends how effort want put in. if you're do-it-yourselfer, can keep running long want. it's easy truck work on , parts readily-available. if it's been cared-for , it's running well, might keep going 200,000 miles or more without having work on it.

22r engine arguably reliable engine ever built. carbureted means can little finicky adjust , may not run best @ high altitude , @ steep angles, means simple , easy work-on. it's easy engine rebuild.

on thoroughly , spend time driving , talking previous owner. can feel whether or not it'd match , how you'd pay it. have '85 toyota 4wd i've had 13 years love. it's been reliable , have no plans replace it.
