Could Kansas City support an NHL team?
first, hate "a team failed there decades ago" argument. if nhl listened argument, wouldnt have blues, flyers, penguins, senators, jets, , avalanche, since teams failed in cities decades before got new teams. (also, second nyc team failed once, can add islanders list.) never have had nordiques or thrashers, if did both wind leaving town anyway.
said, if kansas city serious nhl team, they'd able hold onto minor league team. city has population , corporate presence necessary, none of matters if don't have fans. given city has lost 2 minor league teams in past 12 years (the blades in 2001, , outlaws in 2005), 3 , 4 years gaps of no hockey in between , no ncaa division hockey, seems don't have hardcore hockey base can found in other cities clamouring nhl team (seattle, quebec, hamilton, houston(!)). don't see nhl working out in kc.
to me overlooked nhl market. have great arena in sprint center, population support team, , aren't extremely close other team. think?
