Trip to china H E L P?


i'm going on exchange trip china @ end of march , need need take since teachers @ school (i'm in year 12) don't give information kind of thing.
going tourist spots in beijing, , spending few days @ school teaching lessons. (for need 'smart casual' clothes i'm not quite sure smart casual is.) i'm not sure weather going either don't know wether need jeans, shorts? or jumpers, tshirts or jackets? sunglasses?
