Does it make sense to start playing ice hockey at 14 years old?

okay, freshman in high school (14 years old) , want start playing hockey. when first saw high school hockey team play few months ago, became interested. have had interests in past, every time asked parents if start playing told me late in life begin playing. older , have more of in things, convinced parents allow me start taking skating lessons. have had 4 lessons far (only skating) , still pretty bad making progress. can cross overs pretty well, can stop, , can go fast still cant go backwards nor other skating techniques required in hockey. looking play sophomore year gives me year practice enough time become mediocre. hockey fun sport watch fun playing it?

said earlier, taking skating lessons once week. spring, there lot more ice time available lot more clinics. starting march 1st, have opportunity free skate 3 times week, , hockey clinic once week ten weeks. pretty set on doing of not sure if have enough time become decent hockey player. have talked high school players have been playing since barely walk , they're not stand out players. makes me think can become decent in less year!? know "possible" highly unlikely. remember, lot easier said done , think tremendous amount of practice, still wont able @ high school level in year. have heard people born play hockey can tell not 1 of natural talent. mean athletic , talented cant hop right on skates , amazing people.
