Is a piece of pottery an example of a fossil?

suppose if pottery more 10,000 years old (the age limitation fossil) considering fossil dinosaur footprints, , pottery have been made hand way then, shape have hand marks, suppose if dinosaur can step in mud , call fossil, surely think shape, in clay, (which mud) more purposefully made 1 well!
problem humans put things in boxes , "classify" things. there things don't quite fit definition. ie dana classified minerals, includes mercury despite fact not "solid crystalline structure". cassiterite, tin oxide, not have definate chemical composition. fact xtal lattice in cassiterite can take on additional tin atoms , vary composition several percent. way people animals, organisms.

cavemans footprint fossil or artifact? skeletal remains considered fossils why not footprint or handprint?

why or why not?
