holy cow, every single response far has been wrong everything.

there 2 types of televisions sold these days.

first lcds. of there 2 types referred lcd or led. both use same lcd technology, use different kinds of lightbulbs , reflectors shine through screen produce light since lcds incapable of producing own light source. produces odd bands of light unevenly distributed through screen. people wowed these in stores because bright in brightly lit store.

other kind of television plasma. more advanced technology uses tiny cells filled ionized gas can produce own light , own color. nature of gas, these tvs have perfect color, contrast, no motion blur, , better viewing angles lcds capable of. public has lot of crazy misconceptions theses tvs , thinks "look dark"... not knowing these tvs showing more detail brightly lit tvs destroy picture quality of tv , movies. people know televisions recommend getting plasma above lcds , leds.

televisions can netflix or other similar services. have either have tv built in wifi or external device such roku or ps3. many tvs sold these days have built in wifi , can access netflix , on own. need find out if tv looking @ has wifi check see if model comes built in. built in being key words.

best brands of plasmas panasonic, samsung, , lg. panasonic being far better other two.

best brands of lcd/leds tend big brands samsung, lg, sony, sharp, panasonic, ect ect. there huge variety of other smaller brands good, many westinghouse have had big problems reliability , failures on past few years.

btw, whatever tv looking at. @ 1080p sets.
