What to do when only one headphone is working?

can sure relate problem. must have purchased ten pairs of $29 sony headphones in last 4 years because keep breaking down. stuff manufactured cheaply these days. headphones can rewired new wire. cannot repair headphone wire has been severed. here's dirty little secret headphone wire. have strands of cotton thread in them. once wire severed, thread touches copper signal wire prevents signal traveling down line. can't fix them , have buy new headphones. or rewire yourself. i've done before using small screwdriver glasses repair kit , soldering iron. problem didn't use enough solder attach wire headphone speaker.
