Water Damage - USAA Renters Insurance Advice?

came home past sunday weekend family (they live 2 hours away) apartment had water dripping ceiling of 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment. have usaa renters insurance covered replacement value of $26,900 $250 deductible.

building's maintenance guy has determined tenant above me neglected unclog toilet time bad had snake clear (i live on second floor of 3 story apartment building). water, said, backed sewer line (although water clear).

water has damaged 1 wall of living room (soaked large couch); laundry closet (unplugged washer , dryer "should" fine?); walk-in closet clothes, shoes, suitcases, hats, belts, etc. entire wardrobe except underwear , pajamas soaked in water; master bathroom soaked (from toothbrush shower curtain); master bedroom (queen mattress damp not know how long or how bad wet, bedding wet). carpet associated these living spaces soaked. i've begun file claim, , usaa seems cooperating don't want make mistakes in documentation , claim reporting need advice. ton of clothes dry clean , soaked (plus sewer water). landlord did send out stanley steamer treat affected carpets , big couch.

1 final "kicker" maintenance guy decided "nice" , throw wet clothes , bedding (from wool sweaters scrubs dry-clean $200 queen quilt) in washers in warm water @ laundry matt without soap. dried in dryers , air-dried other articles on clean non water-soaked lazy-boy microfiber love-seat (without concern on washing instructions nor permission me whatsoever enter apartment this) while @ work today. of clothes torn. complicated situation bit. going try these items professionally laundered , covered renters insurance policy (although still reluctant since it's sewer water , wool sweaters, dress clothes, ties, etc. soaked in sewer water).

it's been couple days , apartment smells horrible. cat , staying friend. thoughts? suggestions? personal shared experiences?
