Does yamaha make good electric guitars?


i'm planning buy first electric guitar (i've been playing on acoustic while now) , i'm looking intermediate guitar below 700$ (price still plays important role here)

first thing came mind ibanez rg series or s series.however dad insists yamaha makes better guitars.the yamaha guitar caught attention rgx 420 dzii couldn't find reviews on it.(at least in english)
better of buying yamaha or ibanez
