Homeschooling, where to begin?
welcome!
homeschooling laws can found here:

important read, understand , follow them.
have used abeka materials and, yes, excellent. christian organization math texts math texts. i've used others, because more appropriate children. don't feel locked 1 brand. might sonlight, too:
http://www.sonlight.com/
not recommend curriculum-in-a-box because not children @ same level because of arbitrary 'grade' level. that's way group children manageable class sizes, , has little child's abilities. materials should fit child, not force child fit materials.
kindergarten should play , introduction reading. learning numbers , letter along shapes , colors. should fun. time spent going places, learning , exposure new things. introduce him library , let him check out whatever appeals him. figure out study next. don't afraid drop , study dinosaurs 6 weeks, if that's he's interested in. developing brain matter, not droning useless 'facts' him. education physical development, not filling him 'knowledge'.
recommend drs. raymond , dorothy moore's books , foundation:
http://www.moorefoundation.com/ they're old principles sound.
of linda dobson's homeschooling books website:
http://www.parentatthehelm.com/
not recommend online schools, lower grades. want build strong family foundation child. sitting them in front of computer day not that. need relationship parents.
recommend spend time between , september learning learning , getting know child can select right quality materials. if there homeschool convention within reasonable distance great attend. workshops, vendors , lot of experienced homeschoolers there. found lot of great stuff learning in moore's books, books maria montessori, john taylor gatto's books , home education magazine:

enjoy homeschool journey!
