What kind of area do i need to sculpt?

how big? kind of clay? kind of sculpts?
if making ceramic stuff earth clay, need able area dirty , have place cleaning up, etc. if has in room seems unlikely work well.
if working in plasticine making molds elsewhere or working in polymer clay baking elsewhere conditions more controlled. - few square feet , plastic stacking containers it.
"my room" =? dorm room, bedroom @ home, room in boarding house?
