Why do people in Japan and China use so many tiny dishes when they eat?
part of portion control, part of has foods - have separated. foods put on separate dishes can eat little @ time. also, lot of asian families make lot of food - big dishes food, not portions (think "family style" or buffet). small dishes side dishes or individual portions. take eat, not think can eat (not here in us).
also, if have small table (which common), need smaller dishes on table. , have family alters (or in old days, altar , gravesite) need able put amount of dishes on specific size table/altar.
in america use bowl soup, ice cream, or cereal, , big plate else, why have fish on 1 small plate, rice in tiny bowl, soup in tiny bowl, etc every time meal served?
