Do the pros use scents sometimes, all the time or never?

here's food thought add menu you've been fed. fishing scents designed more reasons one. also, scents work better on fish on others. scents may work better @ times @ others. adding scent catfish bait plus because no fish in freshwater has better olfactory system (the ability smell or taste) catfish senses highly evolved , developed can literally test , taste food tail , barbels (whiskers) before ever gets in mouth. as added scent can flavor bait or lure, can used cover scent remove or conceal scent of lure. try yourself. take new plastic pug out of bubble-pack. smell it. if can smell it, can fish. won't , in probability, neither he. adding fishy scent adds appeal as aids in covering lack of appeal. case in point: fishing grayling in crystal clear stream here in alaska, 4 of targeted fish 20" see holding 8' bottom in fast current. chose black flies. 1 used fly rod , rest of fished flies on weighted mono , spinning reels. bites 10 15 minutes apart spinning rigs , less fly rodder. until....i added smelly jelly fish attractant lure. anise-scented pink jelly took hits instantly , within first 2 or 3 presentations. changed success of our entire day. @ nearby lake, have enjoyed watching huge rainbow trout cruising shallows looking mates in pre-spawn spring days. have tunnel vision! pay little attention or other fishermen throw way. live , lively worms not attract or distract them. of give up. didn't. found 1 lure works. fish live minnow....hooked under dorsal area small trout hook , suspended beneath clear float 3 4 feet down. bait berkley gulp minnow. these close-minded trout looks good. acts good. feels good. importantly ( think) smells good. , here's why think important. has been scientifically proved humans exude scent palms of hands. ironically, white males have scent more noted of asian or african males. when tie on lure or bait, more , longer handle item, more scent attach it. problem compounds when have other foreign scents on our fingers , hands. oil , gasoline smells topping tank on boat or car/truck. food smells lunch or breakfast. perfumes or aftershave. scented hand soap. whatever! adds up. watched dad , go practically fish-less when around limiting out on high sierra rainbow trout. had left dining table in truckee, california diner after packing away delicious fried chicken. thought finger-lickin' delicious. apparently, didn't lick fingers enough because trout did not! scrubbing our hands in mossy vegetation , sandy shoreline have scoured away of undesired deep-fat fried flavor. covering fish attractant or cover scent have positively helped our cause. unfortunately, had no cover scents us. today, when fish, have @ least 1 or 2 types among selection of tackle. don't use because don't need it. when do......
