My dell laptop monitor does not show anything when turned on can someone tell me why?

suggest check status of power led. if not on, connect ac adapter known power outlet , check power led.

if power led on still no video displayed on screen, connect external monitor , toggle check if video. image on external monitor means issue video card.

may replace video card.

external monitor not available, run lcd bist. run lcd bist (built in self-test) press , hold d key on keyboard while pressing power button, release both @ same time.

initiate grey screen, red, blue, green, white, allow inspect entire lcd color purity on each screen , better identify defect such cracks in lcd or stuck pixels may not apparent in normal viewing mode.
if lcd bist fails, lcd needs replaced.
