What does one need to move from Europe to the USA?


i'm moving @ age of around 20. live in malta, island close italy. boyfriend american it's not matter of 'where live'. have o , a-levels , don't think accepted in america (i'm studying become forensic psychologist). here questions:
-are o-leves , a-levels accepted in america? if not, type of examinations need? , if so, accepted in states?
-would there problems in general?
-which state recommend? (i'm looking place sunny , warm of time, far i'm loving los angeles)
i've never been america yet, , don't worry, going there on holiday able check place well.
if of help, boyfriend lives in new york , i'm not sure if weather warm there. please help.
