Tips on how to draw a good/realistic self portrait in pencil?


firstly, use mirror! not pictures, allow make more thought out decisions , allow see self in whatever angle need. material wise, use like, depends on how want come out (photo realistic etc) next, try general shape of head , use perspective measuring. important thing make sure when adding eyes chin , forehead correct size otherwise wrong, also, finish general shape , think doesn't right try adjusting eyes in relationship ears , size of forehead , chin. after simple shading , rubbing.

i need draw tonal self portrait art coursework. tips/techniques make appear more realistic? i'm using standard hb pencil , a3 paper, , using black , white photo reference.
