Why don't some parents let their kids drink energy drinks?

mean can understand if they're 8 or under, because says on energy drink cans they're not suitable children, , can make little kids hyper, older kids , teenagers? need energy boost , might not coffee or coca cola. i'm 18 , live @ home , mum still doesn't let me drink energy drinks, said it's because of sugar. few occasions have had energy drinks on @ dad's house , bought them local shop. mum still doesn't know drank them, dad because saw me. bought cheap ones cost 49p (i live in uk) , tasted sooo , sweet. boyfriend's mum , dad don't allow him drink energy drinks either, presume same reason , maybe caffeine because he's allowed drink coke when goes out meals. drink diet coke daily, because love it.
