Are independent contractors covered by the insurance of the company they are hired by?

insurance, assume mean liability insurance. every policy have seen includes employees additional insureds, either within wording of contact or endorsement policy. independent contractor not "automatically" covered.

there 2 approaches might take coverage. can ask non-profit add additional insured. if possible there no "i think" sure certificate of insurance showing named insured.

other approach own liability insurance calling agent or going online. type "sports camp insurance" in search engine of choice. might consider getting sports accident insurance policy @ same time. cost based on length of time need coverage , number of participants. downside both coverages @ expense.

im independent contractor. have contract non-profit organization run sports camps. non-profit has liability , medical insurance-- need own? said not (they 'think') i'm not sure.
