Can any NHL player be sent to the AHL?

can't because they'd fall below cap floor if did (they had take on tim thomas cap floor).

if dipietro has nmc can't demote him ahl (this why mike "to line not out" komisarek still on leafs 23-man roster).

failing that, players can sent down have pass waivers on way unless he's injured , it's designated rehab stint has specific duration.

i wondering if player can send ahl, or players have written clause in thier contract preventing them being send down? want islanders send dipietro ahl, because playing once every 2 weeks makes no sense. want see if can still play, if not cut him!!!
