Do people understand the difference between race and ethnicity?


seems me lot of americans (including own family) misunderstand difference between two, , confuse somebody's culture race. race refers biological trait, while ethnic group refers cultural traits. example, cannot tell how many times have heard people "that person looked latino". first of all, how latino? have seen people of ethnic group in many different shades; dark-skinned, while others light-skinned. tried explain sister latino isn't race. showed picture of zoe saldana, , picture of shakira (who both have different complexions , hair), , said "mixed". come on...
