How to put a socket at the top of concrate wall?

simplest solution though doesn't plastic conduit (square box tube thing) stick wall , hide wires in that. plug tv existing socket , hide wire in conduit , job done - takes 30 minutes do.

more complicated move socket wall. here advice contact qualified local electrician you.

here simple instructions though.
turn off power sockets in room - have @ main fuse board / consumer unit. check power off @ socket.

turn power on , check on , turn off again checking goes off. ensures have identified , turned off correct circuit.

take off front plate socket want moved, unscrew wires , take plate away. prize metal box behind socket face out of wall , should see round edges circular part cut out holes. knock out 1 of these should on top edge (you might need pliers or small saw) , file edges smooth.

hold box hole came out of , mark on wall new knocked out hole lines up.

want draw 2 parrallel lines vertically straight wall 20mm apart made mark , height want new socket. in between these marks concrete want remove.

use knife score along these lines , hammer , chissel knock out concrete depth of 50mm (you might want check depth).

should have made mess of wall. no socket @ bottom, hole wires poking out (1 or 2 wires, 2) , channel dug wall.

next job make hole socket @ top of channel using same process before - mark size , cut out concrete chisel. use metal box lower socket or new 1 mark size need. depth of hole should bit deeper depth of metal socket box.

should have 2 socket holes , channel between 2. lower hole has wires poking out of it.


put again.

put metal box in hole, poking existing wires through loewr hole (this should obvious). use electrical connectors (buy diy shop, able take 32a) connect existing wires together. if there 2 existing wires make sure same colours each wire joined same colours , nothing else. cut length of new cable (get cable rated @ 20a or 32a if can afford it) , put in connector well.

new wire should poked through top hole in metal box , run channel (you can use tape hold in place now.

new top metal box , socket cover. knock out hole in lower side of metal box (same before) , poke new wire through it, put metal box in hole , screw wall (the lower 1 should screwed in place again). new socket cover should have screw connectors on labelled l, n , e. brown goes l, blue goes n , bare wire e. screw wires in , front plate on top socket. fit blank front plate lower socket

sockets connected again can turn on power , luck nothing happen. plug tv in top socket , should turn on - , circuits shouldn't trip.

turn of power again , fill in holes have made. when filled again, power on , go
