What can Ipad do that a laptop can't?

daughter busting chops every new gadget out there. wants ipad or it, money not there (i don't have hundreds of bucks things). both on gov't assistance (both handicapped) , barely keeping our heads above water. has no friends (she mentally 10 yo physically 34 yo) , have no relatives depend on (i raised in foster home -- father dead , side of family didn't want me or baby). love give 1 these gadgets change fast, i'd 1 , few months later obsolete -- don't have kind of money keep on updating things. can ipad laptop can't? wants take (the ipad) room. hooked comcast laptop in living room , don't know how unhook can take laptop room. battery doesn't last long either (we tried when first bought damn thing , batt lasted hour). acer or other. not computer geek , afraid if unhook wires cable box, screw , not have computer @ (it has gone down twice , don't know how got work did). please help. wants game console games outrageously expensive. has tv , puter companions. can't work because 3 r's terrible (mentally retarded among other ailments) help help!
