Why do some people assume comic book creators AREN'T writers?

have bfa in animation , want go comics- want self-publish , distrubute own comics. while ago trying info funding opportunities comic book writers , writing comics- 2 people contacted kept telling me , funding artists , not writers, , problem was. when try tell people comic book creator , want , and info funding writing why problem? why assume artist , not writer? tried telling these poeple writing , drawing it. don't people realize there art writing comics? people don't care how art is- if story sucks whole comic going suffer. people don't want read comics if story bad. why there seem eb miscommunication concerning writing comics? problem had trying deal know works @ local arts council, , know curator @ 2 african-american museums. don't it.

should when approach these people again request comic book writing , funding writing comics there no misunderstanding or confusion time , can when approach other people these requests type of avoid confusion , misunderstanding?

there grants ofr both writers , artists, want focus on funding writing. creative writing , stroytelling grants out there- want find out these people talkng about- these professionals - ones should pursue. there writing grants out there don't state comic book writing.

think problem these people assume since comics visual medium writing them isn't important. is- there art writing comics, there art writing book. need storyteller animation. need know how storyteller make comics- people aren't buying comics if stories suck.
