Is plane safer than car and why?

plane miles away nearest other plane, , surrounded air. if happens, have several minutes avoid crashing. if crash, on half passengers survive average crash. might have no choice live.

car few feet, inches, other cars. if happens, crash within seconds, there no time take control. if there time something, there other cars (or cliffs or water or mountains or buildings or walls) in every direction, have no choice crash , die. (in cases, might choose whom else dies, deciding car crash, that's it.)

plane crashes happen on ground, @ airport, can stop. , many car crashes happen in places can't stop without being killed, in middle of 65 mph bridge, or in places can't see happening until late stop.

car surrounded other cars, being driven ordinary drivers, of whom drunk, , of whom might crash car @ time. unless live on island have car, there nothing can stop else crashing car. if nothing happens in car, have no choice die.

in civilian airplane flying, impossible airplane flying crash you. (military airplanes have done occasionally, when flying in formation closer allowed civilian planes.) first, planes miles apart each other. second, can see plane coming (on radar, cars don't have) , steer away it. when commercial airplanes hit each other, on ground (at airport), proves point being on ground more dangerous being in air.

(this because terrorists picked morning flights, don't have many passengers. however, interesting note total number of deaths september 11 attacks, including office workers , first responders equal number of deaths car crashes in average month.)
