Parents who have placed child in kumon?

since every child different, wouldn't hurt try out. put son in program when 10. son straight-a student in gifted, wasn't being challenged (his teacher recommended it). so, tried kumon few weeks, after seeing doing...i decided try hooked on phonics, hooked on math, along few educational games & books.
between kumon & hooked on programs, prefer hooked on. can use programs child & child want vs 30-60 minutes few times week. plus, have added benefit of owning programs whereas kumon, well, don't own it.
so, give kumon try , see if fits child's needs. don't consider "cure" though. if child having trouble reading, start making habit of visiting library every other week. check out book or 2 read, , let child see read. better yet, set aside 30-60 minute chunk of time whole family reads , turn off tv.
if it's math child struggling with, ask teacher if they'd able send entire week of homework on monday (or better yet, friday of week before) & set aside time child while works on homework. check out few books @ library math related (magic math great one!).
either way, whatever path choose , whatever path works child...try , sit down each day ask happened @ school, learned, etc. find out if particular topic introduced interested in. if learning fractions (as example) have pizza , allow him cut it. or have him measure ingredients in kitchen. make subject relatable real life.
sorry rambling! myself still love learning!

i planning on placing 10 year old son in kumon. recommend kumon , has child shown improvement in studies?
