Was Japan really going to surrender before the bombings?


depends on "japanese" referring to.

japanese military wanted entire country fight last man, woman, , child. portion of civilian population felt same way, knew war lost did dare because treasonous , arrest kempeitai (their version of gestapo). political faction ruled japan allied imperial japanese military there no question of surrendering. there opposition party had no power , not voice opposition in open because, again, had been labelled treason , such person(s) visit kempeitai.

toward end , before first atom bomb used, emperor hirohito wanted surrender placed in house arrest because military found out desire , did not want him surrender. after 2nd atom bomb used, hirohito able secretly conspire close staff members make recording of him announcing acceptance of surrender.

recording on lp records grandparents listened before invention of cd , digital tapes. japanese military somehow learned of existence of recording , ransacked imperial residence looking it, smuggled out 1 of hirohito's staff , lp broadcasted japanese nation announced surrender , forced japanese military accept it.

allied powers never refused surrender on question of status of emperor. when japanese officials asked become of emperor after surrendering, reply allied powers japanese emperor japanese people's problem. in fact, general macarthur made reply.

were japanese going surrender before nuclear bombings? or hoax?

Peugeot 106 door stuck open?

agree other contributors door stay/check arm not going in properly. however, having replaced 1 on 106 last tuesday, understand how work. if can contort in door stay goes in door, stay should flat , pass between 2 upright cylindrical rollers. should not able see end of stay, supposed hook behind 1 of rollers inside door itself. if rollers aren't upright, need new door stay assembly (about £25 peugeot). if stay no longer hooked behind rollers, rollers ok, may able put end of stay through. bit fiddly (i had when fitting new 1 car), 1 of rollers spring-loaded , has levered (you can manage shortish flat screwdriver , 3 skinned knuckles!) allow hooked tip of door stay pass through. not recommend "heavy friend" leaning on door, bend stay, or damage door. if end replacing stay assembly, have remove door inner trim panel @ roller bit. can give advice on fitting new 1 if needed, have typist's cramp @ moment(!), post again if need more help. luck. the door opened wide ,...
