Are batteries hazardous?

batteries full of toxic chemicals , ban after being toxic. can have lead mercury , other extremely toxic materials in them. don't know causing cancer birth defects possibility. wouldn't go job that. might go produce poison.

i'm going start job @ electronic recycling company soon. signed waiver says there chemical in facility known government cause cancer, birth defects etc. it's batteries or in them.
