Should I learn violin or cello?


i've been looking awhile , still can't decide. i've loved sounds of bowed instruments (including viola, though i'm not fond of literature available it). prefer cello because has lovely tone , range, sound of violin makes heart soar. problem learning cello, however, i'm small adult , felt bit dwarfed cellos tried (both 7/8 , full size). feel bit silly playing child size cello. have relatively small hands , hypermobile fingers lock if stretch far , cause bit of pain. violin wasn't problem when tried out (very screechily) , felt more comfortable instrument in general. in addition, have small apartment , can't imagine having space cello. also, being small, lugging cello lessons difficult?
so, violin seems better fit me physically, sound of cello ~little~ bit more.
i'm 19 , know basics of flute, guitar, , piano, if helps @ all. have budget of approximately $400 instrument + bow. thank you!

10 year old who I babysit has hit me, etc. What should I do?
