Electric guitar and PA question?


i've been playing number of open mics last few months , bring acoustic-electric , lady runs open mics plugs guitar pa , play , sing. has been working good. notice few people bring electric guitars though. playing in background accompanying singer electric 95% of people play here bring acoustic-electrics have been doing. play there electric there 1 time though. there plugging electric pa doesn't work? hurt pa or guitar or that? should bring amp me in case? know might seem silly question people have been playing out years though i've played guitar 30 years+ last year have started playing out in front of people , new me. responses in advance.
