Significant Figures and Conversion Factors?

have 3 sigificant figures in conversion.

there couple of things keep in mind

unit conversions (e.g. 1000m/1km, 2.54/1cm) exact , have infinite significant figures, , never affect amount of sigificant figures in answer.

mulitplication , division depend on number of significant figures; addition , subtraction depends on number least amount of decimal places.

how figure out significant numbers when set , calculate conversion problem??

example:

2.54 km converted inches?

set up:

2.54/1 * 1000m/1 km * 100cm/1m * 2.54in/1cm= ??? how many sig figs there suppose be???
