What exactly is "renewable energy"?


i'm pretty sure wind , solar 2 of prominent examples of "renewable energy" let's stick purposes of question. , think can agree word renewable meant diametrically opposite of non-renewable energy, i.e. fossil fuels (and uranium).

clear sun renewable source of energy. continue fuse hydrogen helium next several billion years , bathe earth shortwave radiation. , sun powers winds should well. sun virtually forever while fossil fuels going run out (if keep using them). far good.

need harness wind , solar energy , convert useful electricity. basically, means need build wind turbines , solar panels. , means need materials. , keep needing materials because these machines don't last forever. materials non-renewable, ones rare earth elements. , there lot of energy expended construct, transport, install , maintain renewable energy devices.

"renewable energy" accurate term? doesn't imply perpetual motion machine?

Peugeot 106 door stuck open?

agree other contributors door stay/check arm not going in properly. however, having replaced 1 on 106 last tuesday, understand how work. if can contort in door stay goes in door, stay should flat , pass between 2 upright cylindrical rollers. should not able see end of stay, supposed hook behind 1 of rollers inside door itself. if rollers aren't upright, need new door stay assembly (about £25 peugeot). if stay no longer hooked behind rollers, rollers ok, may able put end of stay through. bit fiddly (i had when fitting new 1 car), 1 of rollers spring-loaded , has levered (you can manage shortish flat screwdriver , 3 skinned knuckles!) allow hooked tip of door stay pass through. not recommend "heavy friend" leaning on door, bend stay, or damage door. if end replacing stay assembly, have remove door inner trim panel @ roller bit. can give advice on fitting new 1 if needed, have typist's cramp @ moment(!), post again if need more help. luck. the door opened wide ,...
