Questions about the poem "La Belle Dame Jans Merci"?

, there lulled me asleep,
, there dream’d—ah! woe betide!
latest dream ever dream’d
on cold hill’s side.

yes, dies. "la belle dame sans merci", self explanatory, extended metaphor women "kill" (of course, not literally) men.

saw pale kings , princes too,
pale warriors, death-pale all;
cried—“la belle dame sans merci
hath thee in thrall!”

saw starved lips in gloam,
horrid warning gaped wide...

what happens knight in it?
also, la belle dame?
i'm confused.
