Is a Vietnam road trip possible?


crossing border bike pain. perhaps buy or rent bike vietnam. is possible. rainy season wet. hot season hot. beware , consider warned.

experience, dont go alone can after bikes/luggage when stop etc.

1000 per month per person should super plenty indeed. add cost of bikes that. not need guide, might fun local info, food, insight , repairs.

can find repairs anywhere though. locals willing you. more south are.

not miss delta region though. advise see mekong delta region in 2-3 days. has local foods , sights , people khmer krom. super friendly people.

take coastal way fun. tour in north after hanoi.

seek buy , sell bike, or agree return them in hanoi, or use of expat services such adventures(expensive). or try bike across ask @ consulate first. might require bribing @ border.

big bikes 125cc or banned @ point, find out maximum lawful cc is.

eat lot of local food! pho bo, oysters, , dumplings etc. oysters should fresh everywhere. phnom penh had oyster bar had fresh oysters come vietnam every night.

respectful , remember smile thai person.

finding fuel should easy. might sold in plastic bottles in villages.

traffic can confusing @ first. each country, thailand, cambodia , vietnam, have totally different road culture. in vietnam have right side traffic, local curiosity no 1 looks around. think person sees - responsible. join traffic looking forward only. might speed side of road etc without looking, beware. if look, pay. if white, pay too. insured, , if happens, try polite , patient. police, being persistent might prove results. bribes.

when dealing police or rental shops or hotels, see if can leave copy of passport instead of leaving passport itself. international drivers license in time.

Peugeot 106 door stuck open?

agree other contributors door stay/check arm not going in properly. however, having replaced 1 on 106 last tuesday, understand how work. if can contort in door stay goes in door, stay should flat , pass between 2 upright cylindrical rollers. should not able see end of stay, supposed hook behind 1 of rollers inside door itself. if rollers aren't upright, need new door stay assembly (about £25 peugeot). if stay no longer hooked behind rollers, rollers ok, may able put end of stay through. bit fiddly (i had when fitting new 1 car), 1 of rollers spring-loaded , has levered (you can manage shortish flat screwdriver , 3 skinned knuckles!) allow hooked tip of door stay pass through. not recommend "heavy friend" leaning on door, bend stay, or damage door. if end replacing stay assembly, have remove door inner trim panel @ roller bit. can give advice on fitting new 1 if needed, have typist's cramp @ moment(!), post again if need more help. luck. the door opened wide ,...
