every city in world more million people in have crimes on daily basis, doesn't mean of people there in jeopardy everyday. los angeles have crime, , affluent areas such beverly hills not immune it. in of la far more victim of theft victim of rape, assault, or homicide. areas of la safer others. la times has database of crime per zip code in los angeles county, , can see areas have virtually no violent crime (and in nonviolent crime rare), , others have homicides on monthly basis. hollywood relatively safe, though tourists targeted pick-pocketers. don't carry lot of cash on person, , mindful of belongings, expensive cameras , gadgets. should anywhere travel. naturally, documentary on gangs , violence in la going zoom in on areas have more gang activities , more violence. it's not more accurate of depiction of life in la whole shows "keeping kardashians;" it's opposite end of spectrum. sift through drama , focus on facts.

on personal note, i've lived in la since age of 4 , have never been harmed or robbed, or felt @ unsafe. have use common sense , take simple precautions in la anywhere else.
