Good vacation areas on the CA coast?


husband, baby , want go beach short vacation (maybe 3 nights or so). go sometime end of april , hope somewhere warm because want have rental within walking distance beach, not high coast though open idea!!! town suggest go ? (hopefully not big city, quiet) thanks!!
