Which is a better tv brand: Toshiba or LG?
if going brand, need information on tv's.
- looking models, prefer neither.
brands , best least:
- (top brands) panasonic, samsung, lg, sony.
- (top offbrands) toshiba, phillips, vizio.
- when buy tv, make sure , has input , outputs needed, know there smart tv's.
plasma >=< led > lcd (led same, upgrade lcd).
- best picture quality = plasma.
- best audio quality = plasma.
- best energy consumption , environment friendly = led.
- best reliability = led.
- (newer plasma tv's fixed burn in , use little less energy , little better bright rooms, way plasma tv's designed have no motion blur problems).
- (newer led's use motion interpolation frames frame rate of video fix motion blur, can cause soap opera effect, led's bright rooms).
1920x1080 resolution or higher resolution (1920*1080=2,073,600 pixels).
- 1080 resolution better 720 resolution.
- bigger tv's better 1080 720 (if tv around 32 inches or less go 720, bigger want 1080 tv's on 42 inches).
- farther sit away tv means it's better go 1080 720 (if watch more 6 feet away tv, go 1080).
progressive scan > interlaced scan.
- progressive scanning way of displaying, storing, or transmitting moving images in lines of each frame drawn @ same time.
- interlaced scanning way of displaying, storing, or transmitting moving images in odd lines of frame displayed first lines of frame displayed second.
- example: 1080p > 1080i
- example: 720p > 720i
- example: 1080i > 720p (because more resolution better slower passed videos).
- example: 720p > 1080i (because fast pass videos better off progressive scan).
fps = frames per second (of video).
- frame rate how many individual images displayed in second. think of video fast moving flip book.
- ntsc countries use 30p or 60i fps.
- pal countries use 24p/25p or 50i fps.
hz = refresh rate (of tv).
- example: tv 120hz refresh rate, meaning refreshes entire tv screen 120 times second, tv's use black light scanning.
- many tv's allow viewers have computer program in television digitally analyze concurrent frames , use data create intermediary frames. insertion of these frames called interpolation , cause soap opera effect creating more fake frames (higher fps) in between real frames match refresh rate of tv.
- names of motion enhancement technologies: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/motion_inte...
- many tv's allow viewers turn off interpolation , force television repeat same frame number of times match refresh rate of tv or use 3:2 or 2:3 pulldown match refresh rate of tv (a pull down cause jittery screen known judder).
ntsc countries:
- example: display 30 frames per second on tv 120 hz refresh rate, each frame repeated 4 times every 30th of second.
pal countries:
- example: display 24 frames per second on tv 120hz refresh rate, each frame repeated 5 times every 24th of second.
when frame rates of video cannot not divide refresh rate of tv equally above examples, there more math , there 3:2 or 2:3 pull downs.
still new 3d tv's, ill have them , not fan of 3d tv's anyways.
- can slow moving scenes.
- when movies start using higher fps (ex: lotr-hobbit 48 fps), 3d better , less blurry during face pass scenes.
not fan of projectors either.
i'm looking purchase 32" tv , 2 i'm picking between lg 32” cs460 , toshiba 32c120u. they're both same price.
