rest of spots assigned conference ranking there.

8 teams per conference, 16 teams in total.


right now, can see in action on nhl.com standings page.
in eastern conference rankings, bruins , hurricanes both in top 3 though new jersey has more points both of them. because boston , carolina winning in respective divisions, have place in top 3 automatically.

how 8 seeds determined going play in playoffs in nhl?
