Why is Alabama Shakes a popular band?


brittany howard has hugely expressive voice, , band solid. musically, channel sorts of influences, notably me (gospel-derived) soul , 1960s swamp rock (especially creedence clearwater revival). lyrics song lyrics, without carving out new path. think they've got real tingle factor - first time heard "hold on" on radio, had stop , listen - this? they? when album come out? that's sign of tight combo, built upwards rhythm section. i'm looking forward second album.

i see these high ratings them online don't seem understand why known. because of lyrics? did think lead singer others think?
